Established in 1453 under the name Tophane-i Âmire (The Ottoman Royal Cannon Foundry), MKE is Turkey’s oldest defence industry organisation, with a deep-rooted history spanning approximately six centuries and providing uninterrupted service to the Turkish defence industry.

MKE integrates its production heritage with modern defence technologies, reliably meeting the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces, as well as friendly and allied countries, with innovative solutions that meet high quality standards.

Thanks to its advanced technology R&D capabilities and strong manufacturing infrastructure, it operates with a product range of more than 1,000 items, spanning from chemicals and gunpowder to cartridges and heavy weapon ammunition, from light weapon systems to heavy weapon systems, from pyrotechnic products to rockets, and from platforms to integrated system solutions. With this structure, MKE is the only defence industry organisation in the world capable of fully integrated end-to-end production.

As an organisation that not only develops products but also produces technology through national capabilities, it develops original and sustainable solutions in its R&D centres in line with the Effective-Simple-Affordable approach.
